After being eliminated from Playoffs, Tampa Bay officially completes trade with Chicago

With Tampa Bay officially being eliminated from the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs at the hands of the Toronto Maple Leafs Saturday night, it was time for a conditional pick sent away at the deadline by the Bolts to be made official.

Because the Lightning made the playoffs, the pick is of course over 10th overall, so the Chicago Blackhawks will get the first rounder for Brandon Hagel. That is currently the 20th pick overall in the upcoming draft. It could increase to 19th if the Florida Panthers make the conference finals.

Hagel managed a goal and 4 assists in six playoff games with Tampa, which isn't bad at all. However, the upcoming draft is a deep one, and a 20th overall pick for Chicago looks like a very good deal for the Blackhawks at the moment. Tampa also dealt away a package of five draft picks, including a 2025 first-round pick (lottery protected), for Tanner Jeannot at the deadline.
